Take Photos When the Sun Shines

We had one of those rare January days when it was sunny, warm, and dry so I took advantage of the fine weather to get photographs of the two quilt tops I made in December.

This is the one that started out as my 500 year anniversary of Columbus’ arrival in the New World quilt.  The star blocks I tried to make in 1992 did not come out well and I cut up the remaining fabric differently.  The overall design is not as I had imagined it, but it’s 100% better than the original stars.

This is the quilt I started with scrap triangles from an old project, and a variety of black prints cut into large squares.   I wanted it to have a random feel and I think the casual placement of triangles and squares does that.
