My quilt guild is doing a Mystery Quilt this year. I’ve never joined one before and thought it might be fun to try. The idea is that you get one step of the instructions each month, and cut and sew segments to assemble at the end. Since I don’t know in advance what the design is, it’s a little tricky to select fabrics. The name of the pattern gives no clues.
I’ve selected a pile of random prints in brown and green, and my neutral will be grey. Whatever this turns out to be, it will have good contrast.
The first step is making half square triangles. This is about my least favorite block to sew. Boring boring boring. I make myself push through and do them all in an afternoon.
Last, partial assembly. Step one doesn’t give anything away. I have no idea at this point what the blocks will be. This might not even be part of the block, it could be a border.
And there we have it. We’ll see what next month brings.
