Well, Joann’s got sold to liquidators who plan to close all stores and sell off everything in the next few months. Nobody wants to actually run a business any more. Anyway, even though I haven’t shopped there as often as I used to I liked bein able to shopping whenever I needed something, or just wanted to see what was new and get some inspiration.
The weather has been nicer, getting up to 70F, so I’ve been going out more. I even went by JA to see what markdowns they had, but was disappointed. Everything that was 70% off last time was back to normal price. They had some fabrics at 20% off. No batting left, no remnants. Lot of people with full shopping carts and a long line at the cutting table. It was kind of sad to see the store coming apart.
I still don’t have a lot of energy, and on cold days my hands hurt, but when I’m not laying on the couch I get a lot of sewing done.
Finished the 2nd yellow and red quilt assembly. I was just slightly short of my original red fabric and had to improvise. It just needs a border and it will be ready to turn in.
I’m still working on stars for a quilt I started almost a year ago. This is one of my Accuquilt dies. It’s not hard to assemble, but it does take time. Each block takes more than an hour to sew and press. Mostly it’s because of the bias cut triangles. I’m pushing to get this done soon, it’s been hanging out in my sewing room for far too long.
Here are a few of the recent blocks. Though they look different they are all the same pattern.
It was a busy month. I turned in finished quilts and in return got a box of new scraps to work with! This is the 4″ stack of charm squares that was handed to me, and huge bag of random fabric strips. Now, what can I do with strips? Hmmn. Guess I am not going to run out of fabric anytime soon.
I did buy some fabric this month after all. First, I went by JA and they had remnants, so I got a good selection of useful prints. The second bundle is mostly neutrals I bought at a local quilt show.
