February 2025

One of my goals this year is to do more projects for myself.  Among other things, I started this cute cat panel lap quilt.  The panel is called Country Cats.  Country isn’t really my thing, but I do like cats, and the panel was an impulse purchase a couple years ago.

The panel itself was not very large, so I need to add blocks to it.  There were 4 parts to it, I cut them apart and added blocks to each section, and did some dividing rows of flying geese.  Hard to see but for some reason that row didn’t go on straight, so I’ll need to mess with it later.

Meanwhile, still working on the applique cats&dogs.  Got all the dogs done.  Started putting 4-patches together, but need to pull more squares from the stash and maybe cut some fat quarters.  Then each animal square will get sewn to a 4-patch.

Joann’s announced that they will be closing some 500 underperforming stores in order to stay afloat.  The one in Independence is closing.  I hope they are able to stay in business.

Finished the cats&dogs quilt top and the scrappy strip top and turned them in at the quilt bee.  They are donation quilts for the outreach program.   Pretty happy with both:

The weather has been terrible, cold, snowy, wet, icy, brutally cold, just miserable.  Good excuse to stay home and sew.  I’ve already started the next quilt, since I have yards of that yellow floral fabric yet to use up.
