Been slowly working through the weekly mystery blocks. Some have definitely been easier than others.   For week 3 we got to do applique.  I haven’t been a fan of this method in the past, but after doing the cats and dogs quilt this summer I realized how easy it can be with machine sewing.

I had fun selecting just the right colors for my blocks, out of my stash of fabrics.

The final results look great.

But then we got more paper pieced blocks.  I struggled with some of these and was very frustrated.  They took and average of 2-3 hours each to make. By comparison I can do a pieced 8″ or 12″ block in about 20 minutes.  At least, for the bowl of ice cream, I was able to use my cutting dies to get perfect circles.
